Stair Rods

Stair rods emerged in the late 18th century as a means of installation for carpet runners. Carpet runners would be periodically shifted underneath the rods to keep the nose of the stair from fading the runner in one place. Re-emerging in the 1980s and continuing today, a large demand for stair rods was generated as people go back to turn-of-the-century, European style, hardwood and stone stair cases featuring elegant runners accented by decorative brass stair rods and clips.
