To the homemaker of 1899, the Hoosier cabinet was the first fully washable, fully outfitted work station. Of sturdy maple or pine, in later years enameled white or colors to match other kitchen furniture, Hoosiers had castered legs, a large pullout aluminum or porcelain-enameled countertop, and removable shelves.
