Decorative Ornaments
Architectural carving was practiced in Bali for Centuries for the purpose of decorating temples, palaces and houses of high caste. Traditional carving in Bali was influenced by spiritual beliefs; before the sculptor starts to carve he must choose an appropriate day according to Balinese calendar. The sculptor must also chose a specific wood depending on building and purpose, often asking for the blessing of a priest.
