Stone

Stonemasonry is the craft of shaping naturally occurring rock into accurate geometrical shapes and arranging the resulting stones to form structures. This process requires quarrymen to extract the rock from the earth in the form of blocks, sawyers to cut the block into manageable sizes, banker masons to shape the stones for use, carvers to implement artistic detail and fixer masons to apply the stone. Present day stonemasons often possess the skills to complete several of the aforementioned tasks.
