Metal Art
Metal art can be defined as objects of artistic, decorative, and utilitarian value made of one or more kinds of metal and fashioned by casting, hammering, joining, or a combination of these techniques. It was not until the Industrial Revolution in the mid-18th century that a clear distinction was made between metal art and practical objects. Prior to this time everything was handmade out of necessity. Although made to serve a utilitarian purpose, functional metal objects were generally fabricated to have aesthetic appeal.
