Architecture has always held a particular fascination for me. I design and create urns that interact with space in the same way an interesting building exchanges with the skyline. My forms are polished to reflect light from every angle, and seemingly defy gravity, time and space.
The Helical form is all-pervasive throughout our consciousness: DNA, the building blocks of all of creation, is the most universally recognized helical form.
I create the original model for my forms, from which I create the mold. Traditionally, molds can be copied, and so once it has been created, the mold can easily be reproduced. My molds cannot be reproduced, so each mold is a casting off an original model. Every angle is painstakingly cleaned in the greenware state, and then bisque fired. The urns are decorated with materials from the earth, creating a unique expression every time.
The smaller pots are created in porcelain, the bigger ones are made in stoneware.
