chris doman gallery/studio

Chris Doman Short Bio and statement Chris was born in Wales but now has a studio and gallery in Sidney, British Columbia that he shares with his partner Ann. He is currently working in mixed media on paper and canvas and maintains his ongoing interest in glass. His works usually feature personal icons which appear and re-appear in both glass and painting. While there is no particular meaning or symbolism to each icon, they are to a certain extent autobiographical and serve as neutral starting points or metaphorical boxes to fill with new ideas or inventions. Trained in art in England, Mexico and Canada, his work is in private and public collections in Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Canada, USA and Mexico. Chris shares a working relationship with metal artist Michael Mintern and they have recently been combining blasted and carved glass and metal into a variety of designs both functional and sculptural.
