Body Care

Containing only pure natural pigments and quality essential oils, handmade soap is milder and gentler due to the presence of Glycerin in its natural form. Commercially manufactured soaps are extruded in a continual process that leaches out the Glycerin. The rate of production is greatly enhanced by the commercial soap makers automated process resulting in a product ready for market, while handmade soaps must cure between 2 and 8 weeks depending on ingredients.

Lotions
Cold cream has been a a beauty staple since it was developed 2,000 years ago by Legendary physician Galen in AD 200. Intended to counteract the deleterious effects of the mercury-laden makeup of the time, Galen’s recipe is the basis for contemporary cold creams.
Scents
The seventeenth century brought huge success in the perfume industry, with Paris becoming the foremost hub of perfume manufacture. Purportedly, Louis XV required a different fragrance daily and the court of Louis XV became known as le cour parfumée or the perfumed court due to these scents that he and his entourage liberally applied to themselves and surrounding objects.
Soaps
Soap is not found in nature; but can be easily created through the relatively simple processes of sopification. Saponification occurs when a fatty acid and alkali are introduced. Fats or oils that are rich in fatty acids are combined with a strong alkali, which separates the fats or oils into fatty acids and glycerin. Once separated, the sodium or potassium content in the alkali attaches the fatty acids resulting in a potassium or sodium salt or soap.
