Prints

The common misconception regarding art printmaking is that the art print has little artistic value, as they are copies of an original painting. The word print has been subjugated to a generic term defining all facets of printing as synonymous, effectively obscuring the term original print and bringing into question the prints place in the art market. The artist does not create an art print from and original painting, but conceives and executes the art print as an original work of art using classic printing techniques.

Digital
Giclée, a French word, is a feminine noun denoting a spray of liquid and is thought to have been derived from the French verb gicler meaning to squirt. The giclee print connotes a process whereby images are developed from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto a range of backgrounds depending on the artists inclination. The outcome produces superior color accuracy and no discernable dot screen pattern as there are no screens or other mechanical devices are employed in the process.
