Tinware & Toleware
Painted tin-plated sheet iron such as toleware, japanned ware, painted-tin, and Pontypool are essentially one and the same, and each type can be described as painted tinware. Pontypool was produced in the mid 15th century in Pontypool, England; Japanned ware was fashioned to mimic the Japanese lacquer wares, and the point at which Japanned ware is known as the more elite toleware is questionable.
