Kitchen Cabinetry
The kitchen cabinet originated in Italy in the early 16th century. One of the earliest forms was an oblong box that was set on a table, fitted with drawers and covered with doors. The small sizes of the drawers suggest that this original cabinet was built to store precious items. Eventually the cabinet evolved into an object of storage and display, becoming an art form in its own right.
