Pendant Lights

The fuel used in ancient lamps, depended largely on regional availability. Olive oil was the principal fuel employed in Mediterranean countries; other oils include sesame oil (mainly in the East), nut oil, fish oil, and castor oil. Lamp fuels were edible, so lamps were more likely to be used by the wealthy. In times of hunger, the poor would consume fats rationed as fuel for their lamps.
