Outdoor Clocks
The word horologia, derived from the Greek terms meaning hour and to tell, was used to describe all timekeeping devices regardless of the mechanism of measurement. The word clock, from the Latin term clocca meaning bell, eventually displaced the aforementioned name designation and implies the use of bells to denote the time as early mechanical clocks indicated the hour with audible signals.
