Painting

The natural repulsion between wax and water is often employed in mixed media painting to create to retain the integrity of the substrate weather decorated or in its original state. Once in place, the artist can flood the work with water based paint and the pigment will only adhere to those area not protected by the wax, resulting in the retention of highlights that need not be carefully avoided when using this process.
