Corbels
Corbels consists of series of projections positioned progressively outward from the face of the wall to support a cornice or overhanging component. A corbel table is a raised band consisting of small arches resting on corbels, and the corbiestep was developed to conceal the surface of the pitched roof, which consisted of a stepped edge running on an incline, which terminates a masonry wall or gable.
