Carpets and Rugs
To determine the origins, antiquity, and value of carpets and rugs, the collector must recognize the different techniques, materials, and dyes used in the manufacturing process. Rugs produced with mechanized equipment were fabricated extensively during the twentieth century. Closely examine the piece for geometric patterns. Hand-weavers the world over created similar linier designs because straight lines are significantly easier to produce than rounded.
