Wood Fireplace Mantels
Adam wood fireplace mantels were designed in eighteenth century England by the Adam brothers, and are characterized by the use of highly decorated scrolls, frets, festoons, bows and swags. Colonial wood fireplace mantles are similar in design to the Adam mantels but do not have the elaborate ornamentation.
