Measuring 20.5 inches long by 15 inches deep with a graduated height from5 to 7 inches, this piece is marked The McCaskey Account Register on the heel of the box. On a brass plate at the back edge of the top is stamped The McCaskey Register Company. When unlatched and lifted, the double-hinged lid produces a top that can be folded back in two stages. Within the box is a collection of spring devices set on tin pages used apparently used by the McCaskey Register Company probably for sales.
