Authentic 19th Century Weather Vane - 13.0001
This authentic 19th century weather vane sat atop a carriage house in the Germantown section of Philadelphia for approximately 150 years. Measuring 8 feet 5 inches tall, this weather vane terminates in a jagged forked end that function as a lightning rod. The horse motif measures 33 inches at its longest point, and 23 inches at the highest. Fabricated from a heavy grade of steel, the horse comes complete with a few 19th century bullet holes that add character and value to an antique such as this. The directional lettering is of equally heavy steel and remains in original condition, with the exception of the S which sustained a lightning blow that simply nipped the end of the tail. Any expert would consider this a value adding, character building flaw.
